2/21/21 1st Sunday of Lent & Annual Meeting

The First Sunday of Lent Worship Service will be:

OLC’s Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday; following worship service, in the sanctuary. COVID protocols will be followed. Face masks are required upon entering. Worshipers will bring their coats into the sanctuary rather than hanging them up.  Worshipers must use hand sanitizer before entering the sanctuary. Pews will be roped off for the sake of social distancing. Worshipers will be ushered to a seat. They may have a choice of left side or right side; center aisle or outside aisle but everyone will be seated from the front to the back.

Anyone that is uncomfortable with coming into the church may listen to the meeting in the parking lot. If you want to speak during the Annual Meeting, please call 608-289-3698. Your questions/comments will be broadcast through the shortwave transmitter for everyone in the sanctuary/parking lot to hear.  (The Annual Meeting will not be on Facebook Live)  LV-Mtg-Notes-2-2-21.pdf

2/17/21 Ash Wednesday In Person, Parking Lot and Facebook Service

Our Ash Wednesday service will be this evening at 7:00 p.m.

For those listening to the service from your vehicles, Pastor Ken will explain the imposition of ashes at the beginning of the service.

Reminder: Our Annual meeting will take place immediately following worship service on Sunday, February 21st.  We will be discussing sharing a pastor with Luther Valley.  We encourage everyone to attend.

2/14/21 Transfiguration of Jesus – YouTube and Facebook Service

Due to the current weather, we will not be offering our “In-Person or Parking Lot Service” on Sunday, February 14th.  This is the day of our Lord’s transfiguration. Mark’s gospel presents the transfiguration as a preview of what would become apparent to Jesus’ followers after he rose from the dead. Confused disciples are given a vision of God’s glory manifest in the beloved Son.  Please click on the following link to view the YouTube service https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpOYdkMBVObzcfvSY8SMj3Q or go to our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/orfordvillelutheran

The Lenten Season is starting soon. The intent of a Lenten observance is to recognize our need for repentance and acknowledge our sin apart from God, to draw closer to God, and to prepare our hearts for the celebration of Easter.

Ash Wednesday is the seventh Wednesday before Easter and the first day of Lent using ashes as a sign of repentance and an external mark of penitence.

Just a Reminder:

  • Ash Wednesday worship will be at 7:00 p.m., February 17th. We are planning on having a parking lot and in person service in the sanctuary.  It will also be a service of Holy Communion. The ritual of Imposition of Ashes will be administered using single-use cotton swabs to apply the ashes for those indoors and in the parking lot. Because of age category, etc., Pastor Ken will not be applying the ashes, but council members will be doing it. Watch our website and Facebook page for more details. (it will also be available to watch on Facebook if you can’t come to church)
  • Annual Meeting is Sunday, February 21st; following worship service and The Annual Meeting Reports will be emailed on Wednesday.  February-Newsletter-2021.pdf
